Her plan isn’t just compassionate, it’s also smart: She’s realized, thanks to Hook’s brother, that when souls move on, it weakens Hades, so maybe that’s how they can defeat him. Belle feels she was manipulated into damning Gaston’s soul, and perhaps she was, as Hades beams over the wilting of a flower growing by the curb — which he then gifts to Zelena. The B-story, however, involving Emma in fear of her dream basically idled for 37 minutes, until the final, curious payoff. This Sunday on ABC's Once Upon a Time, Belle pondered a deal with Hades after Gaston started making waves in the Underworld. Belle, unsurprisingly, is not on board with this. Gaston promises he’ll read it (because he “finally found a woman of substance”), and Belle finds a story about the mirror of soul, a.k.a. Snow wants in on the adventure and Regina heads out to find Zelena (Rebecca Mader) to learn Hades’ weakness. “I have always known who you really are. When Gaston then goes to shoot Rumple, Belle tackles him, accidentally knocking her ex into the damning drink. They rush to take cover against the storm, and Emma tells them about the monster that pursues them. He blames her and says they’re now at war. He offers her a deal: she can keep her baby if she lets Rumple face Gaston. Meanwhile, a few weeks later, everyone wakes up in Storybrooke with no memory of their time in Cam… There, Belle yells at Rumple for never telling her he killed her fiancee. Then she pulls out the Dark One dagger and commands him to not hurt Gaston. Hades says it’s because he’s been finding flowers all over town and things aren’t supposed to be growing there. Regina wants them to try and act like sisters, asking what happened between her and Hades. Hades goes to visit Gaston at Storybrooke’s Pet Shelter and reveals Belle and Rumplestiltskin – the man who killed Gaston and sent him to the Underworld – are now in town. Belle wants to come along and bring the mirror, but Gaston wants to know why they even HAVE that mirror considering he knows the ogre is evil.
