This was so captivating and the level of nerdiness that Peter has for History is very adorable and cute. I also really enjoyed seeing little snippets of their childhoods through their separate perspectives, it was very touching. Phillips and Milner describe how our poisoned media landscape came into being, beginning with the Satanic Panics of the 1980s and 1990s—which, they say, exemplify “network climate change”—and proceeding through the emergence of trolling culture and the rise of the reactionary far right (as well as its amplification by journalists) during and after the 2016 election.

The dog quickly became of my favorite characters of the book, he was such a sweetheart and for a dog lover like me, it made me really happy to see him along the journey. I enjoy Jennifer E. Smith’s books, and this one, quick and sweet and just a little sad, was just what I was looking for this weekend.
